Super Eagles Star Injured Again Ahead Of AFCON 2025 Qualifiers

Super Eagles and Nantes FC forward Simon Moses has sustained his second injury in 2024, according to Soccernet.ng.

In the latter part of the 2023-24 season, the French Ligue 1 club announced that the 28-year-old had suffered a fractured fibula, sidelining him for three months and ending his season.

Moses made a swift recovery and played a crucial role in Nantes’ pre-season friendly victory against Laval. However, new reports indicate another injury setback.

Nantes manager Antoine Kombouaré voiced his concern over Moses’ condition ahead of the new season. “Simon (Moses) with his ankle still giving me problems and little Adel (Mahamoud) who hurt his knee. I hope it’s not too serious,” Kombouaré said, as quoted by Nantes Tribune.

Moses previously missed Nigeria’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic, with the Super Eagles drawing against South Africa and losing to Benin.

His absence was deeply felt, and the Super Eagles now face the prospect of missing him again for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Benin Republic.
