DISNA: NAAIP South South VP To Deliver Public Lecture On AI’s Future Impact On Journalism

Professor Jonathan Tsetimi, the Vice-President South-South of the National Association of Artificial Intelligence Practitioners (NAAIP) will play the role of Guest Speaker at the 2024 edition of the ‘Distinguished Nigerian Awards’ (DISNA 2024), organised by Oasis Magazine.
The event will hold on the 9th of November, 2024, at the Opal Event Center, along Jesus Saves Road, Asaba, Delta State.
Chairman, Planning Committee, Christian Eghenedji, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
According to Eghenedji, the Guest Speaker was carefully picked to deliver the Public Lecture, saying the media house has no doubt that he will do justice to the subject of the role AI will play in the media space in the future.
Furthermore, he hinted that the Public Lecture to be delivered was titled: “Artificial Intelligence and the Contemporary Media Space: A Brave New World of Ethics and Engagement.”
Prof. Tsetimi is a professor of Industrial Mathematics and the Director, Center for Research and International Programmes (CRIP), Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Nigeria.
Professor Tsetimi holds BSc, MSc and PhD degrees in Industrial Mathematics from the prestigious University of Benin and also a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from DELSU.
He is a distinguished academic in the fields of Industrial Mathematics, Computing and Artificial Intelligence.

Before joining the university system, he worked at various times as; System Analyst, Programmer and ICT trainer.
He was for over five years, a consultant with the World Bank and the African Development Bank on ICT Management for institutional strengthening projects in Nigeria.
As Director of CRIP in DELSU, he plays a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant research culture and spearheading international collaborations.
His commitment to innovation extends to his active participation in the DELSU’s ICT committee for several years running.
Professor Tsetimi’s position as the Vice-President South-South of NAAIP signifies his dedication to advancing the field of AI across Nigeria and beyond.
His expertise and leadership qualities are promoting collaboration among AI practitioners and multidisciplinary researchers, fostering research and development efforts, and ensuring the ethical and responsible application of AI for the benefit of all.
Professor Tsetimi has well over 60 academic publications together with two co-authored books, spanning his areas of research interest, expertise and multidisciplinary collaborations.
His research interests include Industrial Mathematics, Mathematical Computing, Operations Research, Data Analysis, Scheduling, Artificial Intelligence and Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Diseases.
