Ariyo To Build Ultra Modern Secretariat For NURTW Delta State Council

The Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Delta State Council, Comrade Francis Ariyo is billed to build an ultra modern Secretariat for his Union in the State to further deepen the strength and relevance of it in the scheme of things.

This revelation was made by the Secretary of the Union, Comrade Tony Igwebuike who represented the chairman during the Parley-To-Party programme of the Nigeria Union of Journalists on Sunday 3rd November, 2024, at the NUJ press centre in Asaba, Delta State.

Comrade Ariyo debunked the insinuation in most quarters that NURTW officials are touts constituting nuisance at motor parks, affirming that the Union is a disciplined organization that does not only enforce disciplinary measures amongst its members but ensures that the road transport system is safe for the public to use and have confidence in.

In line with the prevailing economic challenges in the country, the chairman also called on his members across the State to continue to maintain peace and order and to be loyal to the government of the day, affirming that the government would soon release buses to the Union to enable members have vehicles to operate with.

His words, “We are in good partnership with the State Government and they have given us land to build our Union Secretariat. Based on our cordial working relationship too, the Union would soon take delivery of a number of vehicles that would create job for its members.

“The Union is good and favourable to those in it and those it services. We are responsible citizens who adhere strictly to the rules and regulations guiding the Union. We have a robust mechanism in place through which our members are disciplined when they err. We are not touts, we are law abiding citizens doing our jobs to feed our families and contribute to the economic growth of our State.

“The Government of Sheriff Oborevwori is favouring us, we don’t have any reasons to complain but to remain focused and loyal to the system”, he said.
