Lobi Stars Appoint Finnish Coach Mika Lönnström To Boost Team Performance

Lobi Stars Football Club of Makurdi introduced Mika Lönnström as the new head coach on Wednesday, bringing in the Finnish tactician to elevate the team’s standing in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Club Chairman Philip Nongu welcomed Lönnström during an unveiling ceremony in Makurdi, explaining the decision as a strategic move to enhance the club’s competitive edge.

“We’re thrilled to introduce Mr. Lönnström to the Benue community, our players, and sports journalists,” Nongu stated. “His expertise and passion will undoubtedly uplift our club and help move us out of the red zone.”
Nongu urged players to show discipline, emphasizing the need for commitment to the club’s vision, and thanked Gov. Hyacinth Alia for supporting the club’s new direction.
Board member James Iorpuu assured the new coach of a supportive environment, praising him for joining the club and highlighting the governor’s commitment to advancing football in Benue State.
Technical adviser Daniel Amokachi voiced optimism about Lönnström’s impact on the team’s performance, noting his strong work ethic and the importance of developing young talent.
Lönnström expressed his excitement at joining Lobi Stars, pledging to honor the club’s legacy and drive it toward success in the NPFL.
