Kokori Elite Club Celebrates End Of Year Party, Honours Members With Award Of Excellence

As part of efforts to strenghten the unity of Kokori Elite Club, the Executive and members of the club have celebrated the group’s 2024 end of year party with thanksgiving services in grand style.

However, the thanksgiving service ceremony which took place at St, James Catholic Church, Kokori was well attended by members of the club who came from different parts of the state and the country at large.

In his sermon during the thanksgiving service, Rev. Father Emure admonished the executive and members of the club to always put God first in any of their programme of activities.

“For one to go from January to December is by the Lord’s doing, even left alone a club that has been in existence for many years now, as you the Executive and members of the club remembered the Lord for the Thanksgiving is a right step in the right direction, adding with God all things are possible.”

Speaking further, Rev. Father Emure used the medium to call on the executive and members of the club to continue to give their lives and work for God at all times, stressing that believing in God in any thing one is doing is the avenue to success.

Immediately after the thanksgiving service at the Church, the members of the club moved to the residence of the Chairman of the club at Eku road, Kokori for reception where Hon. Okurando added color to the event through his oratory profession.

In a welcome address delivered by the President of the club, Sir Chief Bernard Agbomiyeri, he posited that, the club started some time in 1998 with thirteen (13) members, adding that the Idea was initially to celebrate an illustrious son, Chief Efe Leo Akpofure who was highly honoured and awarded by the federal government with a position of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), as at then, and the position was rare and they felt that it was worth celebrating having done the needful the foundation members at then decided that it should be made a club where the interest of the community should be projected, noting that he is now its 5th President.

Chief Bernard Agbomiyeri said,, the aims and objectives of the club is geared towards growth and development of Kokori community, protecting and projecting the interest of one another.

He also highlighted some of his achievements to include acquisition of a piece of land in the town to build a secretariat for the club, donation of science equipments to Kokori Mixed Secondary School, donation of cups for activities during school inter house sport athletic competition, contribution to Kokori Progress Union activities and many others.

Speaking further, Chief Agbomiyeri however, used the medium to commend the members of the club who have been contributing immensely in one way or the other for the growth of the club.

On their part, the Executive Chairman of Ethiope East LGA, Hon. Augustine Usinefe Ogedegbe, the Deputy Speaker of DTHA, Hon. Barr. Arthur Akpowowo, Federal commission for revenue mobilisation representing Delta State, Chief Barr. Martin Egharevwa, PDP Chairman, Ethiope East, Chief Midwest Iboyitete, leader of PDP Ethiope East, Chief Bernard Edewor, Chief Joseph Aghwute and others who spoke, commended the efforts of the Executive and members of the club led by Chief Bernard Agbomiyeri, pledging their support to ensure that the club achieves its aims and objectives.

The high point of the ceremony was the successful presentation of award of excellence to devoted members of the club who had contributed to the growth and development of the club.

Those that received the honoured were,.Chief Sunny Akpodiagaga, Benson Ogbivere, Mr. Jerry Egharevwa, Prof. Jonathan Emanuwa and Felix Ikumariegbe respectively.
