More Concerns On Upgrading Osubi Airstrip Runway

I’ve heard reports perceived credible from the Office of the Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, on why he remains silent on the imperative to upgrade the Osubi Airport, Delta state.

That upgrading the facility was on the priority agenda for Keyamo till the realization that the airport is currently privately owned and what they are doing now is how the Federal Government can acquire it first, otherwise the government cannot encroach it by fiat.

And that is why they have not been able to execute the plan. Till the minister validates it, this said feeler from his office would be hard to believe.

Keyamo should be informed this challenge was there before he came hyping the N2Billion approval President Bola Tinubu granted for upgrade of the Osubi Airport RUNWAY.

Even assuming the airport is owned by private investors, it can be acquired by Federal Government or go into partnership. This oddity of announcing and failing to implement is what happens when you appoint or elect people without capacity.

The airport was originally owned by Shell and after divestment it was taken over by Shoreline. Shoreline didn’t meet up with operational cost and was heavily indebted to the Federal Government hence it was taken over by the Federal government through the Ministry of Aviation & Aerospace Development.

As I speak Osubi airport is being operated by FAAN. Please ignore the cock & bull story. What happened to the 2billion naira that was approved for the expansion of the Runway that Keyamo boasted of?

In addition, Federal Airports Authority (FAAN) is operating Osubi Airport. And such it can expand the airport facilities including Runway.

Dilly dally is unnecessary. All we need to see is the expansion of Osubi Airport RUNWAY and not cock and bull stories.
