Rehabilitation Of Abraka Express Road In Full Swing, Not Abandoned –PDP Chieftain Clarifies

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State has debunked claims made by one Comrade Michael Imonioro that the NUT to Police Station Junction road repair project has been abandoned by the contractor in charge of the work.

Recall that an indigene of Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Comrade Michael Imonioro, on Tuesday lamented that repair work on the Abraka-Obiaruku expressway road had paused.

According to a post on Facebook, Imonioro, said the governor awarded the Abraka- Obiaruku expressway road contract, stating that it has been abandoned for over a month after work commenced on the road recently.

Adding that the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was to commence the construction of the Abraka Obiaruku expressway before the state government hijacked it.

But in a swift reaction, the said party chieftain who opted for anonymity in a phone conversation with Oasis Magazine, said “the rehabilitation of the Abraka Express Road by the Delta State Government is progressing smoothly and at full speed.”

He added: “This project, which began about a month ago, is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to improve roads that have been causing challenges for residents in the state, particularly in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area and other parts of the state.

“As of early Wednesday, March 12, 2025, the rehabilitation of the Abraka express road project has reached the MC-1 phase. This means the road is being prepared for asphalting, and the completion of the project is expected in the coming days.”

He noted that the job was awarded on the 20th of January, 2025, saying that those that claimed that the work was abandoned were playing politics with the development of Abraka, just as he wondered why Kingsley Esiso’s name was brought into Imonioro’s writeup.

He said further: “I am in pain because Esiso’s name was mentioned. Go to the project site tomorrow and see for yourself. The work is progressing.

“No one knows the owner of Julius Berger or other construction companies in Nigeria. Why mention Esiso’s name?

“While we continue to appreciate the administration of His Excellency, RT. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his commitment to improving the infrastructure of Delta State, we encourage all Deltans to keep supporting the governor’s administration as he continues to move our state forward and make life better for everyone.”
