By Young Erhiurhoro
The Executive Chairman of the Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Olorogun Bar. Jaro Egbo has assured the people of the local government council of his commitment to accountability and prudence in the local government administration.
The local government chairman in a recent press briefing held in his office with newsmen from different media houses across the state cleared so many allegations and rumours framed against him by his own brothers and political associates just to tarnish his image and good reputation.

Hear him: “For sometime now, there are different rumours making round in the social media and on Facebook on how I have looted the council’s funds for my personal use. And not only that, there are rumours the same set of people are making that I have changed the ownership of some of the council’s properties to mine. All these are blunt lies without basis and foundation. Those that are making such rumours have no evidence anywhere to substantiate their claims. I want to make my people in this local government and the world know that, I’m truly committed to accountability and financial prudence in everything I do to run this local government council. Whatever those people are saying against me, are just doing that to tarnish my image and reputation.”
Speaking further during the press briefing, the council chairman touched some vital projects he just initiated in his ten-month administration since he assumed office as the local government chairman.
“As all of you have just seen before we came to this my office for the press briefing, I first of all took you round to see all the projects I have just initiated since I assumed office. We have just awarded a contract to build a new secretariat with the sum of N500,000,000.00. We have agreed with the contractor for the contract sum to be paid in three phases. Again, we have also awarded a contract for children cottage hospital. This one embarked by the local government is to support the Ughelli Central Hospital. I hope you all saw the level of work that has been done there. In fact, there are other projects sited in different places and communities across the local government council. One remarkable feature of this my administration is to make sure that, all the projects are in progress. We are working assiduously to make sure they are all completed and put to use at the appropriate time. This is my aspiration and tangible goal,” he said.
Olorogun Bar. Egbo however concluded his presentation to the selected journalists during the press briefing by saying that, he also bought eight different vehicles for use in the local government council, renovated and provided furniture to different offices within the secretariat.
He also brought to limelight the monthly income and expenditure of the local government saying that, apart from Warri South LGA, the next in revenue allocation across the state is Ughelli North.
He assured Ughelli North people that, his records and results as the council chairman would prove his innocence and integrity before them and even his enemies.
Olorogun Bar. Egbo therefore warned all those purportedly presenting themselves as members of different taskforce just to extort the rural dwellers of high revenue collection to desist from such illegal acts or face the wrath of the law.
Amongst the various media houses that attended the press briefing were DRtv, Warri, Quest tv, Ogor, the Urhobo Voice Newspapers, Oasis Magazine, Vanguard Newspapers and many others.
