Warri Urhobos Adopt Abido As Political Leader

Who is who in Warri Urhobo in politics under the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) have adopted Professor (Chief ) Israel N Abido ( JP ) as their political leader.

The historic adoption was made in an enlarged meeting of major stakeholders in Warri Urhobo politics at the Ekpan residence of Professor Abido on Friday, 25th July, 2025 .

Comrade Stanley Onoriode Agbosa moved the motion for the adoption and his motion was supported by Hon Ovoke Omagbemi.

Majority of those who spoke at the epoch making event, stressed that leadership is earned and not bought and therefore inferred that Professor Abido ( JP) deserved the political leadership of Warri Urhobos as they recalled that he has worked tirelessly for the political interest of Warri Urhobos right from time immemorial.

They therefore disassociated themselves from the adoption of a particular individual as the APC political leader of Warri Urhobos by a group the previous day.

They stated that the said individual cannot come from Lagos and hijacked the political leadership of Warri Urhobos overnight ,stressing that leadership is earned and not bought.

Few others who spoke called for unity among Warri Urhobos as they advised the said individual and his group to unite with Professor Abido ( JP) ‘ s political leadership of Warri Urhobos.

The well attended meeting witnessed the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Francis Oborevwori (as the presidential and governorship candidates of Warri Urhobos in the 2025 general elections respectively).

The motion to this effect was moved by Comrade Stanley Onoriode Agbosa and his motion was seconded by Chief Linda Ikpuri.
Senator Joel Onovwakpor and Dr Thomas Ereyetomi ( Senator representing Delta South and House of Representative member representing Warri Federal Constituency at the National Assembly respectively) got confidence votes at the meeting.

The motion for the confident votes was moved by the Master of Ceremony ( MC ) of the occasion, Comrade Stanley Onoriode Agbosa and his motion was supported by Chief Stephen Dolor .

In his acceptance speech, Professor Abido (JP) thanked Warri Urhobos for their adoption as their political leader as he vowed to continue to work for their political interest.

Some of Warri Urhobo political icons who graced the occasion were : the immediate past Delta State House of Assembly member representing Warri South Constituency 11 at the Delta State House of Assembly,Chief Hon Mathew Opuoru, the immediate past Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council, Chief ( Mrs ) Ann Iniovosa, the leader of Warri South Local Government Council Legislative Arm , Hon Joy Ejumudo, other Urhobo councillors in Warri South Local Government Council,Chief Westham Adehor ( JP ), Chief Isaac Emiforniye, Chief Godwin Onotor, Hon Mark Ikpuri, Chief Christian Bazunu, Dr Marvins Onojeghwro, Chief( Mrs ) Eda Ekemere , Chief Pius Ovo Oyiboaga, Chief ( Mrs ) Emily Irikefe , Ms Edirin Okere and former chairman of Okere Urhobo Development Movement, Hon Cyril Eboh, Comrade Wisdom Ekuremu ( of Waddo City ), Clement Okome and Friday Onoriobe ( members of Mile 11 Security Organization, Igbudu Market) , members of Arewa Community among others.
