Gov. Oborevwori Celebrates Olu Of Warri On 4th Anniversary

Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Elder Sheriff Oborevwori has celebrated the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse lll, describing him as a visionary Monarch whose reign has not only fostered harmony,equity, justice and fair play in Warri Kingdom but promoted cultural clime which stands as an enduring legacy and enlightened rulership.

Governor Oborevwori gave this assertion on Thursday at the fourth Coronation Anniversary of the Monarch which took place in his palace in Warri South Local Government Area of the state.

According to Governor Oborevwori, the peaceful disposition which characterised His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse lll rulership in the kingdom has been the bedrock upon which the state has continued to expand in infrastructural development and empowerment of the various communities in the state.

“The tranquility of Warri Kingdom under your reign has provided the foundation upon which we continue to expand infrastructure and empower communities and drive development across Delta State,” he said.

Governor Oborevwori who was represented by the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Emomotimi Guwor said, Olu’s global outlook has equally advanced the fortune and frontiers of Warri Kingdom by building bilateral partnership and open doors for investment, adding that, he has strengthened Warri space as an economic hub that has enhanced the state attractions to international communities.

According to him, the reign of the Monarch has also brought about peace, unity and purposeful rulership that is guided by good vision and integrity which have been powerful tools of transformation not only in Warri Kingdom but the local government,the state and the nation at large.

Governor Oborevwori wished the chief celebrants God’s wisdom, strength and good health to continue to lead the people to greater heights.

He said: “As we mark this significant anniversary, l join the people of Iwere land at home and abroad in celebrating a monarch whose reign has revived cultural heritage, inspired youths and restored pride in Itsekiris dignity. May Almighty God grant you wisdom, strength and good health to continue to lead your people to greater height.”

On his part, the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse lll said, in the previous year, there were many storms in the kingdom hence the people have a long way to go.

He however said, despite these challenges, the people should remain focused and determined as that is the only way the kingdom can move to the next level.

He continued:” Even though we still have a long way to go, remain resolute, determined and committed to ensuring that the affairs and direction of Itsekiri nation do not go off course.”

His Majesty advocated for peace, unity and oneness among the people and charged them to do away with “pull him down syndrome” which is the character of many people in the Kingdom, noting that that cannot move the people forward.

According to him, God Almighty has already blessed the people, he however said, such blessings would be manifested if the people are united, speak with one voice and do things in common.

He said further:” God has already blessed us but He will not leave His throne down and help us. If we keep on perpetuating the notion that we cannot trust ourselves, then, we are only delaying the breakthrough that we desperately desire as a people”.

Tje monarch cautioned that the extent Itsekiris have pulled down one another is enough, adding, it is time to unite to move the people to the next level.

The monarch therefore called on all sons and daughters of the kingdom to remain focused to move Warri Kingdom to greater heights.

He used the medium to thank the representatives of the government of the Federation, the Governor, Oborevwori, Emomotimi Guwor, Director General of DSS, Service Chiefs, Commissioner of Police, Delta State,Local Government Chairmen of Warri North and South and others to have celebrated with the kingdom.

The programme witnessed many of the Itsekiris sons and daughters of different communities both at home and abroad pay homage to the king in grand style.
