By Daniel Dafe
Comr. (Amb) Derrick Oritsematosan Agberen, National Coordinator, Initiative For Social Rights Concerns And Advancement(ISRCA) AKA “No Justice, No Peace, has commended the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his approval and initiation of the reconstruction of the Sapele–Benin Road.
The rights activist in a statement on Wednesday added that “the road has been in a deplorable state for some time, thereby impeding the free flow of moment, vehicles and resulting in heavy traffic congestion during both daytime and evening rush hours.”
According to him, “notwithstanding the fact that the actual portion of the road is a Federal Government property, it is indeed a commendable gesture that the Delta State Governor could transcend this narrative and extend his infrastructure development initiatives to federal roads.”
Continuing, he said “the project, spanning 10 kilometres of dual carriageway with reinforced concrete pavement, stormwater drains, and wider shoulders, highlights the Governor’s dedication to promoting economic growth and stability.”
“The project not only showcases the Delta State Government’s dedication to providing quality services, but also highlights the State Government’s prompt response to the challenges faced by its citizens, considering the fact that the portion of the roads has posed a significant obstacle to public mobility and vehicle safety,” he averred.
