A Warri based legal luminary and opinion leader, Chief Andi Kayoma Osawota has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resuscitate the moribund ports in southern Nigeria just as he plans to build of an inland port in northern Nigeria.

Osawota who is also a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta State, made the appeal in an exclusive media chat with our correspondent in his Effurun Uvwie Local Government Area residence last weekend.

The legal icon who was reacting to a media report on President Tinubu’s approval of the building of an inland port in the northern part of the country, recalled that he had  made an appeal for the resuscitation of the moribund sea ports in Warri, Sapele, Oghara , Forcados, Burutu, Koko and Port Harcourt that was widely published in the media and that he was reiterating his appeal further based on the media report on President Tinubu’s approval of the building of an inland port somewhere in the north when all the said sea ports in the south are moribund.

He explained further that his appeal was necessitated by the fact that the southern part of Nigeria is the hen that lays the golden egg and that monies spent in building the said sea ports that were built in natural places should not be wasted, stressing that Nigeria’s economy depends on the oil wealth of the south.

Osawota who is an author of several books, reasoned that resuscitation of the sea ports in the south will empower the people and also boost the economy of Nigeria.
