DELSU: Caleb Ivworin Elected President Of PGSAN

In what has been described as a free, fair, and keenly contested election, Pastor Caleb Godwin Ivworin has emerged as the new President of the Postgraduate Students’ Association of Nigeria (PGSAN), Delta State University, Abraka Chapter, following the association’s general election held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at the Postgraduate School, Campus 3, Abraka.

Pastor Ivworin, a vibrant scholar and cleric pursuing a PhD in Linguistics known for his humility and commitment to service, secured a total of 115 votes, defeating his closest rival who polled 73 votes.

His victory has been widely celebrated by supporters and observers who described the outcome as “the will of the people” and a reflection of students’ confidence in his leadership potential.

The election, which drew large participation from postgraduate students across various faculties, was conducted under the supervision of the PGSAN Independent Electoral Committee, chaired by a team of dedicated postgraduate representatives who ensured a transparent, credible, and peaceful process.

Speaking shortly after his victory was announced, Pastor Ivworin expressed gratitude to God, the electoral committee, and all postgraduate students for their confidence in his leadership.

He pledged to run an open, inclusive, and service driven administration that will prioritize student welfare, academic excellence, and access to research opportunities.

“This victory is not about me, but about every postgraduate student who believes in the possibility of a stronger and united PGSAN,” he said.

“Together, we will reposition the association to better serve the needs of all postgraduate scholars at DELSU.”

Meanwhile, observers commended the peaceful conduct of the election, noting that it reflected the maturity and democratic spirit of the postgraduate community.

The newly elected executives are expected to be inaugurated in the coming days, marking the beginning of a new administrative chapter for the association.

With this victory, many postgraduate students are optimistic that the Ivworin led administration will usher in a renewed era of accountability, innovation, and advocacy for postgraduate interests within and beyond the university.
