DELSU VC, Others Join Governing Council Member, Andrew Odum, As He Buries Father In Onicha Ugbo

Vice Chancellor, Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, on Wednesday, graced the burial ceremony of Diokpa Ezinna George Odum, father to a Governing Council member of the institution, Sir Andrew Odum (SAN).

The VC was accompanied by some members of the Governing Council.

They include the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Professor Edmund Atakpo, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Professor Hilary Ijeoma Owamah, Registrar, Mrs. Rufina Ufiofio, University Librarian, Dr. Josephine Eruterio Onohwakpor and Provost, College of Health Sciences, Prof. Emmanuel Odokuma.

Others are Prof. Festus Arunaye, Prof. Sunny Awhefeada, Prof. Emmanuel Mordi, Prof. Ignatius Njoseh and Mr. Monday Izu.

The VC was also accompanied by the Director of Ceremonials, Information and Public Relations, Prof. (Mrs.) Enajite Ojaruega, Deputy Director of Ceremonials, Information and Public Relations, Dr. Ese Umukoro, the University Public Relations Officer, Mr. Henry Eseka, Director, Health Services, Dr. Bobola Agbonle and Director, Physical Planning, Arch. Mike Asafia.

The Deputy Registrar (Council), Mrs. Peace Irogbo, Deputy Registrar (VC’s Office), Mrs Ejiro Etobro and the VC’s PA, Efe Enite, were also in the entourage.

Speaking during the Funeral Mass at All Saints Catholic Church, Onicha Ugbo, Sir Odum, said his late father lived a fulfilled and healthy life, saying he has no doubt that he is now in heaven.

According to him, his father lived as a role model and impacted their lives in many ways.

In an earlier condolence message, Prof. Asagba, said Diokpa Odum “lived a long and fulfilled life marked by grace, wisdom and impactful contributions to his family and community.”

Adding: “He has found relief from the travails of mankind and rest with his Maker.”

A reception held at Odum’s compound in the said community.

Family, friends and well-wishers trouped to the venue to celebrate the life and times of Pa Odum.

Immediate past governor of the state, Dr, Ifeanyi Okowa and wife, Dame Edith Okowa were among the dignitaries that attended the grand ceremony.
