NPFL Suspends Centre Referee, Assessor Indefinitely After Kano Pillars Vs Abia Warriors Controversy
The Nigeria Premier Football League has handed indefinite suspensions to both the Centre Referee and the Referee Assessor involved in the Matchday fixture between Kano Pillars FC and Abia Warriors, which ended 0-1.
The decision follows a review that found the referee guilty of ignoring a glaring penalty incident, an action ruled inconsistent with the Laws of the Game and one that directly influenced the outcome of the match.
The Referee Assessor was also sanctioned for failing to properly carry out his duties, with reports that did not reflect key incidents or post-match debriefings.
