Orhuwhorun Community Agog, As SK Palama Holds Remembrance Ceremony For Parents

On Friday, January 9th 2026, the ancient city of Orhuwhorun in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State came alive as the Executive Governor of Delta State, Sherriff Oborevwori, traditional rulers, top politicians and political leaders, business partners, family, friends and well wishers attended Sir Shebs Kris Palama parents remembrance ceremony in Udu in a grand style.

The 50th and 19th memorial anniversary ceremony activities commenced with a thanksgiving session held at his father’s residence led by the St. Matthew Catholic Church of Orhuwhorun, where family, friends, well wishers and members gathered to appreciate God for His faithfulness.

Speaking during the ceremony, SK Palama, said his father was a good story teller, a good writer and orator who worked so hard that his siblings could go to school.

According to him, he was warned by his late father not to chase other people’s wives, which he said was a taboo.

“He told me that I must respect and show honor always to elderly ones even though himself was not a Christian at that time. But his behavior is godly behavior. Thirdly, I have all of you young, you are the only one close to me at my bed side, hence take good care of your siblings ” when you grew up,” he said.

“Therefore, I went round to bring all my siblings together to make sure they all go to school. My late father always stood for transparency in handling community issues which makes him a disciplined man. He died when I was just aged 10 years old. Then I continued from where he stopped and I was focused that I must go to school.

“For my mother, late madam Esther Omotejovwo Esi was a brilliant woman even though she was denied female education just to remain as housewife in the house. She grew up very well, later got married to my sister’s father though it was a long story but during that process they gave birth to me as the rest is history. My late father stood for righteousness, steadfast. I therefore thank all the priests present, family, friends well wishers staff and I admonished everyone to serve God faithfully./,” he added.

Following the thanksgiving service, SK Palama family, staff, friends and well wishers proceeded to a colourful reception where guests from all walks of life were warmly received. Guests were treated to a variety of delicious delicacies and assorted drinks, creating a lively atmosphere of fellowship and celebration.

SK Palama has a Group Foundation known for its humanitarian contributions to community development. It could be recalled that SK Palama has carried out magnanimous charity to churches, schools, the needy and less privileged as part of its commitment to improving the well-being of the people.

At the event, several speakers described the late Chief Julius Palama and Madam Esther Omotejovwho Esi as disciplined, hardworking, and God-fearing parents whose values are clearly reflected in the lives and achievements of their children.

Prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of their souls and for continued peace and development in Udu Local Government Area and Delta State at large.

Governor Oborevwori who was on ground to add color and dignity to the celebration was praised for the Udu Bridge to ECN Road project.

The ceremony provided another opportunity for strengthening bonds among political leaders, traditional institutions and the grassroots, reinforcing the shared commitment to unity, peace and progress across communities in Delta State.

The ceremony which drew dignitaries from all walks of life also had in attendance the Delta Central Senator who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Olorogun Barr. Adelabu Bodjor, HoR, RT. Revd, Hon. Francis Waive represents Ughelli North, South and Udu Federal constituency, Olorogun Sir Richard Odibo, Olorogun Barr. Moses Odibo, Hon Chief Peter Uveijitobor Okagbare, Hon. Barr. Royal fathers of Udu and Ughievwen Kingdoms, Okporua I, Ovie of Udu Kingdom and the Okubaro of Ughievwen Kingdom, including captains of industries and businesses magnate from Delta State and beyond graced the event.
