Evangelist Omomaife Holds One-Day Leadership Summit In Abraka

A one-day leadership summit tagged Intergenerational Governance Summit on Friday held in Abraka.

The event hosted by Evangelist Christian Omomaife with theme ‘Youth, Power & the Future of Democracy’ took place at 4 Square Hotel, Urhuovie-Abraka, Delta State.

The convener, Evang Christian Omomaife, in his welcome address, said without God, “governance becomes power without conscience.”

Omomaife said the summit was “a response to a generational cry.”

His words: “We live in a time where everyone is talking about leadership, yet true leadership is scarce.”

He continued: “We have young people with energy but no direction;
leaders with experience but no succession; noise on social media but silence in real governance; passion without preparation; ambition without accountability.”

He added: “Today, politics has become entertainment, insults, and hashtags. But governance is not a trend—it is responsibility.

Speaking further, the convener said that “a nation that disconnects its youth from wisdom and disconnects its elders from relevance is preparing itself for collapse,” just as he hinted that the proramme was “born out of pain.”

He said further: “Pain from seeing brilliant young people wasted; pain from seeing experienced leaders pushed aside; pain from seeing governance reduced to ego, money, and survival.”

According to him, “governance is not a relay race where one generation drops the baton and walks away.”

Adding: “It is a bridge, and bridges require both ends to stand. When generations refuse to talk, a nation keeps repeating its mistakes.”

Furthermore, he said the vision of IGS is to create conversation instead of confrontation, promote mentorship instead of mockery, restore values before positions, prepare youths, not just mobilize them, to honour elders, not discard them.

In his words, “we are not here to overthrow anyone. We are here to build continuity. We believe the future does not cancel the past. The future learns from it.”

Meanwhile, he opined that “governance without values is dangerous,” saying that “faith without societal impact is incomplete.”

The event featured inspiring keynote addresses, dialogues and youth-led discussions.

A keynote address on ‘Guardians of the Republic: What Decades in Law and Politics’ was delivered by Olorogun Barr. EFE E. J.

Also, Prophet Samuel John, spoke on the topic ‘Faith Beyond the Pulpit: God’s Expectation of Christians in Governance.’

Former Member of the House of Representatives representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, Hon. Ben Igbakpa, who brought his legislative experience to bear, spoke on the topic ‘Law Making and Leadership: Lessons from the National Assembly — What Worked, What Went Wrong.’

Comr. Steven Eseh also spoke on ‘Youth Engagement in Governance: Challenges and Opportunities.’

At the well-attended event, the host also launched the Aghogho Omomaife Education and Charity Foundation in honour of his late elder brother.
