DELSU Workers’ Cooperative Society Holds 39th AGM

The 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Delta State University Workers’ Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Limited (DELSU WMPCS) took place on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the Cooperative Multi-Purpose Hall, Site III, DELSU, Abraka.
Chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel Asagba who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Edmund Atakpo, the event highlighted the society’s achievements and progress.
Prof. Atakpo praised past leadership, notably Dr. Itedjere and Chief Edward Agbure, and commended the management led by Mr. Jonathan Akuaghare for their efforts.
In his welcome address, President Akuaghare highlighted key achievements, including: 195 new members admitted, swift loan processing, essential food commodities provided with convenient payment options and completion of the cooperative guest house roofing project.
He noted challenges, such as land acquisition issues, but assured members of the committee’s commitment to progress.
The meeting observed a minute’s silence for departed members, including Prof. Godwin E. Idolor; Dr. Cable Ebimene Singer; Prof.Albert Ukoro Ofuokwu; Dr. Asiyai Anthony; Prof. Bridget U. Imonikebe; Mr.Oghenerhoro Ovie; Mr. Samuel Oghogho Akatugba; Mrs.Irivwieri Mercy; Mr.Ekure Vincent; Prof. John Ubrurhe and Prof. Onoriose
The management committee reported a net surplus increase from N151.6 million (2024) to N192.6 million (2025). A proposal to allow non-committee members to contest the presidency was debated but rejected, with members advocating for a president grounded in the society’s affairs.

Notable attendees included Prof. Edmund Atakpo, Dr. J.E. Onohwakpor, and Chief Agbure.
The meeting ended with a closing prayer led by Mrs. Okueki.
