Yobe State Government Approves Weigh-In-Allowance For Journalists And Non Journalists Alike
Yobe state government has approved the implementation of weigh-in allowance for journalists and non journalist in the state.
A statement by the permanent secretary establishment, Zainab Muhammad Ago for Head of Service indicates that the approval followed a joint request by the Union Bodies of the NUJ and RATTAWU
pursuance to their Weigh-in Allowance that applies to all workers working in
Radio and Television as well as the council for Arts and Culture sector.

The letter directed for the
approval of the Head of Service for the implementation of the same as follows:-
35% of basic salary for Journalists and
20% of basic salary for Non-journalists
It discloses that the two (2) Unions were enjoying the Weigh-in allowance prior to implementation of the N70,000 Minimum Wage.
The statement to direct the Ministry of Finance to implement the said allowance commensurate.
