Alleged Inflated APC Primary Results Spark Outrage In Delta Central

Warri – Following the conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primaries in Delta Central, as media practitioner, 001 of the Guild of Online Media Editors and Publishers of Nigeria (GOMEP), Otiti, condemned what he described as “fake and vague” results allegedly manufactured in parts of Uvwie.

Otiti, who said he initially chose to remain silent because he considered the matter an internal affair of the party, expressed shock over figures reportedly announced from some wards during the exercise.

Speaking on the controversy surrounding the APC primaries, he questioned the credibility of claims that a single ward in Uvwie produced as much as 13,000 votes in favour of Senator Ede Dafinone.

According to him, the figures being circulated were disturbing and did not reflect the realities on ground.

“I never wanted to put my pen to paper on these APC versus APC senatorial primaries because I felt it was something that should have been resolved internally by the party,” he stated.

“But when you announce a result that a ward in Uvwie produced 13,000 votes, the question is: how many people even live in the entire Uvwie that only a fraction called a ward will produce such numbers?”

Otiti further argued that even during the 2023 general elections, no ward in Delta State recorded such turnout, insisting that the figures allegedly announced during the primaries were unbelievable and capable of damaging the credibility of the process.

He alleged that the results were deliberately manipulated to favour certain political interests within the party, warning that such irregularities could erode confidence in the APC’s internal democratic process.
The GOMEP official called on the leadership of the APC to ensure transparency, fairness and accountability in the handling of party electoral processes, stressing that credible primaries remain essential to sustaining members’ trust and public confidence.

The allegations come amid growing protests and dissatisfaction from party faithful across several parts of Delta Central, with many aggrieved members accusing influential leaders within the party of hijacking the primaries and undermining internal democracy.
