Delta Police Secure 23 Convictions As Traffic Law Enforcement Intensifies
The Delta State Police Command has recorded 23 convictions following the continued enforcement of traffic regulations across the state.
This was contained in a statement on Saturday signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe.
The Command disclosed that 26 vehicles were arrested for various traffic-related offences and subsequently charged before the Mobile Court provided by the Delta State Government for immediate adjudication.
According to the police, the enforcement exercise is being carried out in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police and the Command’s commitment to promoting road safety, public order, and strict compliance with existing traffic laws.
The initiative is aimed at curbing traffic violations that endanger lives and disrupt the orderly use of roads across the state.
At the conclusion of the court proceedings, 23 offenders were convicted and ordered to pay fines corresponding to their respective offences, while three others were discharged and acquitted.
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, said the outcome underscores the Command’s determination to ensure compliance with traffic regulations through lawful and transparent enforcement measures.
He reiterated the Command’s resolve to sustain the exercise across the state and warned that motorists who violate traffic laws would continue to face appropriate legal sanctions.
The police commissioner further urged road users to ensure that their vehicles are properly registered and documented, while also complying with all traffic regulations at all times.
