Ibusa Raid: Delta Police Recover Pump-Action Gun, Arrest Two Suspected Cultists
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested two suspected cultists and recovered a pump-action gun, live cartridges, charms, and suspected illicit drugs during a raid on a criminal hideout in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area.
The operation, carried out by the Command Anti-Cultism Unit (CACU) on June 19, 2026, at about 11:45 p.m., followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected cult members in the area.
The suspects were identified as 26-year-old Okonkwo Prosper of Aniofu, Aniocha North Local Government Area, and 25-year-old Tuesday Emmanuel, who is also from the same community.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, a search conducted during the operation led to the recovery of one English pump-action gun loaded with five live cartridges, one cutlass, charms, and substances suspected to be illicit drugs.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are alleged members of a cult group linked to several cult-related clashes in Ibusa and surrounding communities. The police said the suspects are currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal gang.
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to eliminating cultism and other violent crimes across the state.
