2026 Cognitive/Placement Examination: 112,543 Candidates Pass As 4,640 Fail In Delta

The Delta State Government has released the results of the 2026 Cognitive/Placement Examination, with 112,543 candidates successfully meeting the required standard for admission into junior secondary schools, while 4,640 candidates failed to attain the pass mark.

The Commissioner for Primary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu, JP, announced the release of the results in a statement on Friday, describing it as another demonstration of the state government’s commitment to a transparent, credible and efficient examination process.

According to the commissioner, 117,834 candidates registered for the examination conducted across the state, while 117,183 candidates sat for the test. She disclosed that 651 candidates were absent from the examination.

Mrs. Ezewu directed parents and guardians to obtain access cards for checking their children’s results from the respective school heads at no cost, explaining that the arrangement was designed to ensure a seamless and accessible result verification process.

She reaffirmed the Ministry of Primary Education’s commitment to fairness, transparency and accountability in the conduct of public examinations, noting that the exercise aligns with the MORE Agenda of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori in promoting quality education across Delta State.

Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mr. Henry Akambe, said the marking of scripts commenced immediately after the examination to ensure accuracy, transparency and the timely release of the results.

He commended the Director of Examinations and Standards, Mrs. Clementina Ojumah, and members of her team for their dedication and professionalism throughout the conduct of the examination and the marking process.

The 2026 Cognitive/Placement Examination was held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in designated centres across the 25 local government areas of Delta State, marking another milestone in the transition of pupils from primary to junior secondary education.
