INEC Begins Implementation Of Court Judgment Restoring Abraka, Isoko North II, Ughelli South II State Constituencies

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Delta State Office, has commenced the implementation of the Federal High Court judgment restoring the previously suppressed State Constituencies of Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II.

As part of the implementation process, the Commission convened a stakeholders’ engagement on Friday, July 31, 2026, at its State Office Conference Hall in Asaba.

Prior to the meeting, the Administrative Secretary of INEC in Delta State, Mr. Davis O. Eidred, had, in a letter dated July 30, 2026, invited key stakeholders, including the Executive Chairman of Isoko North Local Government Area, Prince Godwin Ogorugba, to participate in the engagement aimed at facilitating the restoration of the affected constituencies.

At the meeting, INEC reaffirmed its commitment to complying with the court judgment in line with the law and its constitutional mandate.

A major outcome of the engagement was the constitution of a technical team to ascertain the GPS coordinates and other relevant boundary details of the restored State Constituencies.

The Commission announced the members of the technical team and immediately deployed them to the affected constituencies to commence the assignment.

According to INEC, the team has been given 48 hours to submit its report to enable the Commission proceed with the next phase of implementing the court judgment.

Legal representatives of the affected constituencies also reaffirmed the validity of the court’s decision and pledged their full cooperation with INEC to ensure a smooth and seamless implementation process.

Subject to the completion of all statutory and administrative requirements, the restored State Constituencies are expected to participate in the 2027 General Election.

The development marks a significant milestone in restoring constitutional representation for the people of Abraka, Isoko North II and Ughelli South II, following the court-ordered reinstatement of the constituencies.
