INEC Extends Deadline For Political Parties To Submit Candidates For 2027 Elections
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to submit the lists and personal particulars of their candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections.
In a press release issued on Sunday, the Commission announced that the submission deadline, originally scheduled to end on Saturday, July 11, 2026, has now been extended to midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
According to INEC, the extension followed an appeal by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), acting on behalf of political parties that were unable to complete the upload of their candidates’ names and personal particulars within the stipulated timeframe.
The electoral body said the decision reflects its commitment to promoting inclusivity while operating strictly within the provisions of the law.
