Possible Ajede Unveils ‘Ifeoma Zu Osa’ Empowerment Programme, Distributes Poultry Starter Packs To Beneficiaries

The Chairman of Ukwuani Local Government Area, Barr. Possible Ajede, PhD, on Friday unveiled the Ifeoma Zu Osa Empowerment Programme, a major economic intervention aimed at promoting self-reliance and improving the livelihoods of residents across the local government.

The programme, launched at the Ukwuani Local Government Council Secretariat in Obiaruku, forms part of the council chairman’s Do More Agenda and is designed to create sustainable economic opportunities through agricultural empowerment.

As part of the initiative, each beneficiary received two cartons of day-old chicks, two and a half bags of poultry feed, and cash support to enable them establish and sustain profitable poultry farming businesses. The intervention is expected to encourage entrepreneurship, reduce unemployment, and strengthen household incomes across the local government.

Speaking during the launch, Barr. Ajede said the empowerment programme reflects his administration’s commitment to grassroots development and economic transformation. He noted that the initiative is intended to equip beneficiaries with the resources needed to become self-sufficient while contributing to the local economy.

The council chairman expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for creating an enabling environment through Federal Government policies that have supported ongoing development and empowerment efforts in Ukwuani.

He also commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for his unwavering commitment to the MORE Agenda, describing the governor’s continued support for developmental and empowerment programmes as instrumental to improving the lives of the people.

Beneficiaries expressed excitement and gratitude over the initiative, describing it as “the mother of all empowerment programmes.” They said the quality and value of the support package would significantly improve their economic prospects and help them build sustainable means of livelihood.

The Ifeoma Zu Osa Empowerment Programme is regarded as another milestone under the Do More Agenda, reinforcing the administration’s resolve to promote inclusive economic growth, create employment opportunities, and empower residents with practical tools for long-term financial independence in Ukwuani Local Government Area.
