Sex-For-Grades: DOU Probes Lecturer Filmed Dancing After Hotel Sting

ASABA, DELTA STATE — Dennis Osadebay University (DOU), Asaba, has commenced an investigation into an alleged sex-for-grades scandal involving a lecturer in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Mr. Collins Ojoh, after a video showing him being confronted and forced to dance in a hotel surfaced online.

The video, which has been widely circulated on social media, allegedly captured the lecturer during a confrontation with a group of students after he reportedly invited a female student to a hotel.

According to sources, the lecturer allegedly demanded sexual favours from the student in exchange for academic grades. The student was said to have informed some of her friends about the alleged request, leading to a plan to confront him.

The confrontation reportedly took place at the hotel where the lecturer had allegedly arranged to meet the student. During the encounter, the students allegedly questioned him over the alleged demand for sex in exchange for favourable academic marks, recorded the incident, and forced him to dance.

Speaking with Oasis Magazine on Friday during a telephone conversation, the Registrar of the institution, Mrs. Nweke, confirmed that the university had already commenced an investigation into the matter.

According to her, the Vice-Chancellor had directed the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to investigate the incident.

“The Vice-Chancellor has already instructed the CSO to investigate the matter. So, the matter is being investigated. As an institution, we follow due process in handling our issues,” she said.

The video has since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many condemning the alleged abuse of authority and calling on the university to conduct a thorough investigation.

However, the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and the allegations have not been independently verified by Oasis Magazine.

Attempts to reach the lecturer, Mr. Collins Ojoh, for his reaction were unsuccessful, as his phone line was switched off.

As of the time of filing this report, the university had yet to issue an official statement on the incident, while the outcome of the investigation remained unknown.
