World renowned German evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke, has explained the choice of Nigeria for his farewell crusade.

According to the founder of Christ For All Nations who addressed journalists on his arrival at Intercontinental Hotel, Lagos, the choice of Nigeria for the farewell crusade was as a result of the country being the most populous in African adding that the more, the better in winning souls for Christ.

“I am after souls not after money, I can see a ripe harvest in Nigeria because of the large population. Also, I have top of my best friends in Nigeria and on top of it all, I love Nigerians,” he said.

On why he is handing over the baton to a younger preacher, Bonnke explained that he is already 77 years old and he does not want to get to the peak of evangelism and then drop adding that he has already trained a young man named Daniel Kolenda and that will take the ministry high.
“When the ‘passing on the torch happens’, it will have serious global effect and I believe this is the will of God. As long as God keeps me, I will continue to evangelize, I am after sowing for Jesus, I am not after money, I believe in sowing for Christ and I promise to do as much as I can,” he said.

The chairman, Central Working Committee of the ‘Farewell Crusade’, Apostle Alexander Bamgbola, explained that the crusade will remove every darkness from the land of Africa because Evangelist Bonnke represents the light of God.

“At the arrival of Evangelist Bonnke, many ministers of God have started feeling the presence of God. We know that many souls have been perishing in Africa but we believe that through this crusade many souls will be saved,” he said.

Bamgbola said further that the crusade also promises healing for Nigeria from its socio-economic crises, corruption and spiritual pollution.
