Atubi To DELSU Students: Steer Clear Of Examination Malpractices Or Face The Music

As Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, begins second semester examination, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Augustus Atubi, yesterday, cautioned final year students against engaging in examination malpractices, warning that any student found wanting will face the music.
Speaking to our correspondent in an exclusive interview in Abraka, Atubi stated: “The regulation and consequences is crystal clear on this issue if you fall short of examination malpractices, you will face the music. As you know, we have our Students Disciplinary Panel on ground, so as a student is caught, they face the panel immediately and if eventually found guilty of examination malpractices, it is expulsion.”
“I advise them to steer clear of examination malpractices and other related offenses especially during this their final year in the university. Examination malpractices does not and can never pay rather embrace the virtue of hard work because it pays. It is very simple if a student reads his/her book, there is no way they won’t pass their examination.
“We are not victimizing anybody, so if you are caught cheating or impersonating for any student, the writer and that student is gone. The university remains a place where we cannot and will never tolerate corrupt practices and so no preferential treatment for any student no matter how highly placed their parents may be.”
Asked if the university has made any plans to encourage students in reading their books in view of the epileptic power supply situation in the community, Atubi said: “In the absence of electricity supply and hostel generating plants in our campuses, the university has gone a step further to ensure that there are standby generating sets for pumping water and also for light so that they can read.
“These standby generating sets are specifically connected to reading rooms so that when there is power outage or the university’s generating plants breaks down in the various campuses, they have their own generator in the hostels to power the reading rooms and supply them water,” he added.
