Okowa, Nani Recieve Commendation Over Infrastructural Development In Jesse

The Olotu-Eweya of Idjerhe Kingdom has commended the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his Honourable Commissioner for Environment, Barr.  John Nani, for the massive infrastructural and human capital transformation, that has been witnessed in the kingdom since the emergence of Aghwemutuwhevwi as the political leader of the kingdom.

Speaking during a thank you visit to the Hon. Commissioner recently, the group led by Mrs. kpuru Akpeninor Rebecca, the Ugo-Evweya of Idjerhe Kingdom, expressed gratitude to Gov. Okowa for listening to the cry of their son for the development of the kingdom.

The Ugo-Eweya who spoke in Urhobo Language said that Jesse has never had it this good as the Governor has virtually turned the kingdom to a construction site where new projects are initiated almost every month.

She said: “This is an unimaginable feat especially considering the constraint of many state governments to meet even their normal recurrent expenditure (payment of salaries and allowances).

“Indeed, we are extremely thankful for the great sacrifices the Governor is making to fix the infrastructural decay in our communities.”

She listed some of the projects to include the completion of the Jesse dual carriage way, construction of Boboroku/Ago link road, the construction of Omoja Bridge, renovation of Okueka Primary school, construction of Erhiekevwe Secondary School, the rehabilitation of roads in the town and the many empowerment programmes that the Governor and the Hon. Commissioner have initiated in the state.

She stated further that as the upholders of peace and defenders of the customs and traditions of the kingdom, they are pleased with what Okowa has done in Idjerhe Kingdom and that they are already mobilizing the men and women of the kingdom to re-elect Gov. Okowa for another four years of more impactful projects in the kingdom.

An obviously elated Hon. Nani while responding, thanked the women for the visit and recognised the humane sacrifice they are making to better the lots of the kingdom, saying that everything he has been able to influence to the kingdom has been made possible by the very passionate and listening governor of the state and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

He added: “His Excellency has been very kind to us here and I will urge you all to continue to propagate the message that one good turn deserves another. The approvals we have gotten so far even in the face of challenging economic realities has further demonstrated that the Governor is a proud son of this kingdom and you all were witnesses when he was named “Oghenegare” by the Jesse people in early 2015.

“We must reciprocate these kind gestures of Gov. Okowa by mobilising grassroot support to reelect him and other PDP candidates for another four years.”

The commissioner stressed the need to promote peaceful coexistence in the kingdom as violence is not a better alternative to peace which is the harbinger of development.

He continued: “As leaders, we must continue to go out of our way to promote peace in the kingdom,” saying that he has seen that peace brings development which everyone craves for in the land.

“We must prove to all our detractors that Idjerhe is one indivisible family that cannot be negatively influenced by haters of the growth and development that we have recorded in the past years,” he stressed.

The Aghwemutuwhevwi while calling on all Idjerhe sons and daughters both at home and diaspora to use every available opportunity to invest and attract development to the kingdom, promised to continue to do his very best to improve infrastructures in the kingdom.

According to him, the contract for the construction of Mission Road with side drainage has been awarded, adding that the contractor will fully be mobilised to site in the next few days.

He also assured that the Newmap Erosion Control project which Jesse is a beneficiary to is still very much on course in the state, as the technical partner, the World Bank is making the final correction of the draft bidding document for the award of the contract for construction work to commence.
