Elozino: Urhobo Youths Give DELSU 7 Day Ultimatum To Disengage Deogratas Security
By Daniel Dafe
The executive of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU, Youth Wing, Worldwide, has given a 7day ultimatum to the management of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, to disengage Deogratas Security Company, saying that failure to comply would result in a massive protest by Urhobo youths and other legal means to compel the university authority to yield to their demand.
You will recall that one of the ritualists fingered in the gruesome murder of Elozino is a staff with Deogratas Security Company responsible for securing Site III of the campus in Abraka.
In a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Victor Peretomode and signed by Comr. Louis Emoubonuvie Anidi and Comr. Kelly Umukoro, the President and Secretary General respectively, the executive members of UPU youth wing said that since the kidnap and murder of Elozino was carried out in Site III with two security operatives of the said security outfit fingered in the plot, this was a sufficient reason to demand for the disengagement of Deogratas Security Company.
While describing Deogratas as complacent, they noted that “there have been cases of ritual killings, kidnapping of staffs and students within the campus with the current murder of Elozino now revealing the source of strength of the perpetrators of these heinous crimes since a security personnel was involved.”
The group added: “We do not know how long the act has been happening, but we are certain that the continued presence of officers of Deogratas in our campus will instill fear and trepidations on the students.”
“The disengagement of Deogratas will be in the overall interest of the safety and security of students, the letter added.”
