We’ll Sell Produced Crude Oil Onboard To Feed Ourselves, Shutdown Operations– ConOil Workers

Following incessant complains about being allegedly abandoned on board, crude oil crisis looms in Niger Delta as ConOil platforms in Ondo and Bayelsa States have threatened to sell produced crude oil from their various platforms in order to have funds to feed themselves, access medical care and other social welfare while onboard.

Workers of ConOil on its platforms offshore have cried out, sending ‘Safe Our Soul message’ to the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation, NNPC, Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR and the Nigeria Labour Congress, to come to their assistance due to what they described as the company’s abandonment of workers onboard.

The workers who are left on board stranded, said they don’t have medical care, no drugs in the store, no food to eat and are subjected to use their money to buy food from nearby and far away communities in the field.

It was also gathered that workers and security personnels are threatening to pull out of locations because of lack of food and better working conditions.

The Amalgamated ConOil workers through Mr. Oiku Eromosele Dickson and Erastus Komela, Secretary and PRO respectively are accusing top management of Conoil, a prominent Warri Chief (name withheld), servicing companies namely Godvics and Global Manpower for their nonchalant and insensitivity to workers welfare.
