The Commissioner-designate for Ethiope East Local Government Area into the Delta State Executive Council, Olorogun (Barr.) Arthur Akpowowo, has called on residents and indigenes in the area to expect more dividends of democracy during the next four years of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on the saddle of leadership in the state.

Akpowowo spoke to journalists today in Asaba after his successful swearing-in alongside 16 others as commissioners earlier today.

Speaking further, while promising to improve on his services to his people, he vowed to remain committed to bearing the pains of his people and committing to their aspirations.

On the pick of youths into the executive council by the Governor, he said: “We are not happy with what Buhari is doing by picking many old persons in his team. Though we cannot be referred to as youths, but we are young men and this nation needs young men to salvage it.

“Some of our elders have disappointed us and that is why the nation is where she is today. These leaders are nepotic and ethnical. However, Governor Okowa is not that way and he has shown it once again with his appointments so far.

“The governor stressed on unity, selfless service and humility by appointees in Delta State during his address and those of us that are serving under him must key into all these and his ‘Stronger Delta’ vision.”

He continued: “For those of us who are very close to him, we know how he operates. I will not go outside his purview and dream for Delta. I served in the Transition Committee and so I know the blueprint of 2019 to 2023 already and so we will key into it and do what is expected of us.”

Furthermore, he said: “Just like our governor, we will be humble, futuristic and make sure that unity prevails in our various local government areas, as we set aside sentiments.

According to him, he is optimistic that PDP will win all elections in Ethiope East, come 2023, noting that though it has been the home of opposition in the state, he will work with other like minds to ensure that by God’s grace they deliver on this agenda.
