The Acting President, Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Youth Wing, Worldwide, Comr. Bayo Eyube, has condemned the move by some Urhobo youths to call for the replacement of Hon. Michael Diden as Chairman, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission.

You will recall that some youths parading themselves as executive of UPU Youth Wing had called for the replacement of Diden with an Urhobo son as Chairman of the Board in an open letter addressed to the Governor of Delta State, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa.

Eyube who spoke to journalists in Abraka, warned that any person parading themselves as UPU Youth wing to cause chaos in the land will be dealt with.

He added: “We are presently working for the progress of Urhobo Nation. Naturally we do not respond to issues like this in other not to glorify the sponsors of the publication. But, it is important we clear the air and state the obvious fact that the Acting President and Acting Secretary never at any point called for a meeting.

“It is surprising that the writer refused to unveil the names of those that attended the meeting. This shows that whatsoever he did was illegal. Presently as UPU Youth Wing we are trying every way possible to pursue the pan Urhobo brand and not promote party affiliations. That is, we see every Urhobo son as important irrespective of the political party they belong to. We saw the unity amongst Delta Senators against party lines during the screening of the Delta ministerial nominee, Festus Keyamo. They stood for an illustrious son of Delta.

“As UPU leaders, we are not partisan and no Urhobo man is more Urhobo than the other, hence the selection of Diden as Chairman is in order. The state governor has the right to pick who he chooses to occupy any position. Since there is no alternative, he should be left to go.”

Comr. Bayo Eyube

He continued: “From our investigation, Diden is related to the great Okpe Kingdom, one of the kingdoms in Urhobo land. So, Diden is a bonafide son of Urhobo Nation.
