Breaking News: UPU Dissolves Executive Of Youth Body, As Igho Takes Charge
By Daniel Dafe
The National Executive of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Worldwide, has dissolved the executive of the association’s youth wing, Ighelle, led by Comrade Louis Anidi.
In a press statement by UPU made available to this
reporter, UPU said: “We have reached an agreement to dissolve the UPU Youth
exco. Since the past one year and a few months, their main recorded achievement
was on the negative side.
“The infighting and manhandling of co exco members by the leaders of the group that
even led to police arrest of members by fellow members for assault has been
very disgraceful.”
According to the press statement, “the inability of the exco to organise
meetings without rancor and fight and refusal of the president and members to
attend official functions with the parent body despite prior notifications, are
some of the things that led to this decision.”
Oasis
Magazine (OM) gathered that the immediate past youth president, Comrade
Ovie Igho Anthony, has been mandated to reorganise the youth body and act as
the president.
The release also read that “he has also been permitted to pick a new team that
can assist him to carry out his new assignment.”
