UPU Youthwing President Commends Okowa Over Cash Gift To Incapacitated Police Officer

The President of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU), Youthwing, Worldwide, Comrade Efemena Umukoro, has commended the Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, over his cash donation to a police officer, Sergeant Mohammed Ahmed rendered blind in the line of duty.
The said police officer lost his sight as a result of injuries sustained after he was attacked by hoodlums during an operation.
Umukoro, who spoke to Oasis Magazine (OM), during an exclusive chat, said the gesture was very inspiring and will go a lonhg way to boosting the moral of policemen in the state.
He said: “I have watched closely how he has attended to issues of security. The other day he provided Hilux vans to security agents. This move will aid their movement in the state.”
He continued: “The cash of N3, 000, 000 presented to the blind police officer is a way of encouraging them. The police officer was attached to Eagle Net before the sad incidence occurred and the Governor has deemed it fit to assist him financially.
“Okowa has once again shown that he believes in hard work and excellence. This will make other police officers believe that if anything negative happens to them while on duty, that there is someone who cares for them.”
He called on other well-meaning Deltans to copy what the governor has done.
“It is not easy to police a country like Nigeria. Police should be given assistance by government officials and well to do Deltans,” he opined.
“If they feel neglected, there will be a nonchalant approach to their duties,” he averred.
According to him, the governor is doing a great job in the area of security of lives and property.
Furthermore, he noted that since the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Hafix Mohammed Inuwa, came to the state, he has been doing his best.
Continuing, he promised to mobilize other Urhobo youths to give the CP and the police force in the state the needed support for the overall safety of Deltans.
