Condolence Register For Kyari Open At SGF Office, As Body Is Laid To Rest

The Presidency will on Sunday open a condolence register at the office of the Secretary to the government of the Federation (SGF) for those who are able to use the window permitted for movement by the authorities of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) administration. 

This is coming after the burial of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, who died of the prevailing Coronavirus pandemic at a health facility in Lagos on Friday.

The Presidency, in a statement signed by Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, explained that the remains of the late Chief of Staff, arrived in Abuja Saturday morning from Lagos, and had since been buried at Gudu cemetery after funeral prayers at his residence.

“As advised by the protocols put in place by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the Federal Ministry of Health on social distancing, the burial marks the end of all ceremonies and there will be no condolence visits to family and the Presidency, ” the statement added.

The Presidency further advised well-wishers and all other Nigerians to instead, pray for the repose of the soul of the late Chief of Staff.

For Kyari, death came calling on Friday, after weeks of battling the ravaging coronavirus which has claimed thousands of lives across the globe with the number steadily rising in Nigeria.

Kyari’s death was announced by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina, in the early hours of Saturday.
