Covid-19: One Index Case Confirmed In Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State commissioner of Health, Pharm. Yahaya Ahmed said that one new index case of coronnavirus has been confirmed in the state.
Pharm. Yahaya made the declaration at a joint press briefing at the government house, Lafia on Tuesday.
According to the health commissioner, the victim is a 25 years old lady resident in Garaku, in Kokona Local Government.
“The lady in question travelled to Kano on business trip and when she arrived the state she was made to undergo a test and subsequently tested positive to coronaviru”, the Commissioner said.
He further stated that the victim has since been transferred to the Dalhatu Arafat Specialist Hospital in Lafia for treatment while the two people that had contact with her have been traced.
Similarly, the state commissioner of police, Mr. Bola Longe has warned that with the index recorded in the state stiffer measure shall be taken to ensure strict compliance on restrictions in the state.
Bola urged citizens in the state to respect the restrictions order to avoid arrest.
In the same vein, the Attorney General/commissioner of Justice, Barr. Abdulkareem Kana would be signing an amendment on the Nasarawa State dangerous disease emergency provision regulations.
Kana also said that in addition to the ban on commercial motorcycles, any motorcyclists must not carry any person or else would be impounded.
In addition, the Karu Local Council Chairman, Samuel Akala said that with the creation of additional sample collection center by the state government in Karu local council, more samples will be sent for testing.
