COVID-19: Suspension Of The Lockdown For Easter Sunday Worship To Hold Is Still A Rumour- Delta CP

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Delta State, Hafiz Mohammed Inuwa, has said that the news making the rounds that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has suspended the lockdown to allow churches meet tomorrow is still a rumour.

The CP said this during a phone conversation with Oasis Magazine (OM).

His words: “The report that the governor has suspended the lockdown for Christians to hold services is not yet confirmed. Someone called me from Warri and I said as far as I am concerned there is nothing like that because I have not gotten any information.”

Inuwa urged residents in the state to abide by the already existing directive of the lockdown, saying this was in the best interest of everybody.

He added: “Despite the rumour going on, if people should meet you don’t know who is who. We are in an emergency situation and you cannot trust who will stand near you. For us to continue to live healthy, it is better we abide by the instructions given by the authorities.”

“Let’s cross our hands pending directives from His Excellency. As I speak there is no credible information suspending the lockdown. The Commissioner of Information who is the mouth piece of the government has not spoken about it. So it stands as rumour which should be discountenanced,” he averred.
