PFN: We Are Still Negotiating With Authorities So Easter Sunday Worship Can Hold In Our Churches Tomorrow

–Says A Final Press Statement Will Soon Be Released By Him

The President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Delta State, Bishop Kingsley Enakirerhi, has said that members of the association were still in touch with the authorities in negotiations to suspend the lockdown to allow Christians in the state mark the Easter celebrations in their various worship centres.

You will recall that the Delta State Government recently banned public gatherings as a measure to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus disease also known as COVID-19, that has become a global health crisis, with many deaths reported and over 1, 000, 000 confirmed cases.

Responding to questions during a phone conversation, the cleric called on Christians to be patient, saying by latest 6p.m. today, a final word on the matter will be released as a press statement from PFN to determine what happens tomorrow.

“I am aware of PFN’s directive that services will hold and also that from an aide to the governor that described it as fake news,” he added.

“We are still negotiating with the authorities on the matter,” he said.

Meanwhile, in a press statement made by the Governor of the state, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa today, he was silent on the matter, while he reiterated the lockdown directive, as he called on Christians to pray for the nation and the state to enable the COVID-19 pandemic become a thing of the past.
