COVID-19: Okwagbe Indigenes In Diaspora Donate Palliatives To Community

Okwagbe lndigenes in Diaspora have donated three live cows, sanitizers and plastic buckets for regular hand washing to the people of Okwagbe Community in Ughelli South LGA of Delta State to amiliorate the effect of COVID -19 on their people at home .
Mr Japhet Efakpokrire, President of Okwagbe lndigenes in Diaspora while making the presentation at the Community Town Hall in Otor Okwagbe (Okwagbe lnland ) stated that the group made up of Indigenes of the Community based in Warri, Asaba, Lagos ,Abuja, and overseas found
it necessary to support their kith and kins back home in the this trying period of COVID -19 pandemic to ameliorate the harsh economic reality brought upon the people by the scourge.
Mr. Efakpokrire while speaking on the need to obey social distancing advised the community’s executive present to always educate the people on the need to avoid large gatherings where there are more than twenty persons at any given moment.
The president further said :”This donation is a gesture of our goodwill towards our people. We have come to give the little that we have. I advise the community leadership to use their good office to share everything equitably as they adhere strictly to regular use of sanitizers provided to check the spread of the pandemic.

“May I also call on other Okwagbe lndigenes in Diaspora to contribute to the Diaspora purse so that we can do more for our people.”
Olorogun Okiemute Oviri Okwagbe (JP), the Coordinator of the project who is also the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Okowa on Community Liaison who addressed the press, noted that the donation was done to support the magnanimous disposition of Governor Okowa who has graciously distributed palliatives to his people at Okwagbe from the State food bank.
Olorogun Oviri explained further during that the media interactive session that: “It is not good to leave everything on the shoulders of our amiable Governor who has been working round the clock with the START Agenda to create a Stronger Delta. Governor Okowa, having done so much for my Okwagbe people in particular and Deltans in general, we the lndigenes of the community in Diaspora decided to support the State Government’s laudable effort in trying to combat the spread of Covid -19 Pandemic.”
While stressing the need to live by the NCDC guidelines, Olorogun Okiemute Oviri Okwagbe (JP ) assured the people that
the scourge will soon be over by the grace of God.
He maintained that the Okwagbe Diaspora Group will continue to make this kind of goodwill gestures anytime it is feasible to their people to always support the good works of Governor Okowa who has proven his mettle as the Road Master and Ekwueme of Africa.
Mr Abel Eyube the Deputy Coordinator of the Project who also spoke, cleared the air that one cow goes to Waterside while two goes to Otor-Okwage (Okwagbe lnland).
Eyube who shed more light on how to share the items donated, directed that the distribution be done in such a way that everybody will be happy by having a taste of the good gesture and by ensuring that no one is short changed in the sharing process which must be done in the spirit of love and brotherhood. .
Mr. Stephen Oshomedje the President General of Otor-Okwage ( Okwagbe lnland) who officially received the three cows and the sanitising materials, in his speech expressed overwhelming joy over the kind gesture and goodwill of Okwagbe lndigenes in Diaspora.
Mr Oshomedje, who hinted that they are very much abreast with the rules of covid-19, thanked God that the community has not lost any body to the pandemic.
Oshomedje, the elated Otor -Okwagbe community President General further stated: “Having done this much for us, my prayer for Okwagbe lndigenes in Diaspora
is that God Almighty in His infinite mercies should grant them favour for more blessing any where they sojourn on planet earth. May our lndigenes in Diaspora be recognised and given choice appointments in all tiers of government so that they can do more in their quest to join hands with Government to develop Okwagbe Community, Ughelli South Local Government Area and Delta State in general.”
Comrade Sunday Turu Oyibo the President General of Okwagbe Waterside represented by Mr Benjamin Origbon in his own acceptance speech appropriated the invaluable role the sons and daughters of Okwagbe ln Diaspora are playing to help them at home during the Covid -19 pandemic.

He promised that the cows will be proportionally distributed while the sanitising materials will be put into appropriate use.

Austin Veso Oviri, the Otor-Okwagbe Community spokesman who added his voice, thanked all Okwagbe lndigenes in Diaspora for their kind gesture.
