May Day: Majemite Commends Workers In Ethiope East LGA
By Daniel Dafe
The Chairman of Ethiope East Local Government Area in Delta State, Chief (Mrs.) Faith Majemite, has saluted workers in the area on the occasion of the 2020 May (Workers) Day Celebration.
Majemite, in a phone conversation with Oasis Magazine (OM),described workers in Ethiope East as partners in progress just as she commended the workers in the area who she said ”in the midst of nothing are still committed to their work.”
She added: “Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, people are so worried that the normal fanfare on Workers’ Day was not held today.”
She continued: “My workers are good and I cannot request for better workers. I want them to continue to be law abiding, faithful to Delta State Government and come to work at all times.”
According to her, “the continuous maturity exhibited by workers has not just enhanced a better relationship but has indeed, given hope for a mutually benefiting relationship.”
The council boss prayed for a sustained and more robust engagement between the workers and her administration in her efforts to meet the demands on the welfare of workers and the generality of the people.
She urged the workers to join hands with her in the battle against the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic, by ensuring they comply with all the directives laid down to tackle the deadly virus, as they resume duties.
Majemite disclosed that the council does not owe any worker salary, saying that this was made possible because the governor has devised a way of augmenting the payment of the salaries of workers.
“The governor has made it possible for us to smile every month; he is like a messiah to all Local Government Councils in the state. We all look up to him for leadership and are praying that he finishes well,” she said.
