Intervene To Avert Brewing Crisis, Prominent Ugbolokposo Indigenes Beg Olu Of Warri

-Demand explanation over controversial N100 Million purportedly paid by SPDC to Ugbolokposo

Two prominent Ugbolokposo indigenes in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Benson Anoemuaghan and Mr. Emma Atseruboma, have appealed to the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli, to intervene so as to avert what they described as a brewing leadership crisis in Ugbolokposo.

In a signed petition addressed to the Warri Monarch and widely circulated to the press, the duo fingered a prominent Warri Chief of alleged plan to, “seize, intimidate, and forcefully install unpopular leadership in the once peaceful community of Ugbolokposo”, for purported personal interest, insisting: “The executive of the community had always been drawn from the various quarters to ensure fairness and equity. But the reverse is now the case, since our best hands are not being projected to take the community to the next level, due to the aforesaid external unholy interference from the Chief in question.”

While alleging that previous correspondences sent to the Olu of Warri through courier services, regarding the unfolding leadership tussle in the community, had been sat upon by vested interest, so as not to get the attention of the revered Monarch, the two Ugbolokposo indigenes demanded: “For a detailed explanation of perceived financial misappropriation of a Hundred Million Naira (N100, 000.000.00) from Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, paid since 2017. After judgement was entered in favour of Ugbolokposo Community against SPDC, in a case instituted with suit No: FHC/WR/CS/30/2013 against SPDC”.

They claimed that a few non-resident Ugbolokposo indigenes, alongside a retiree from a multinational oil and gas company, aided by the unnamed Chief, had been frustrating their demand for accountability and all-inclusive community leadership, hence, “we will require your royalty (Olu of Warri) intervention in this regard, to ensure justice is not only done, but seen to have been done to all parties”.
