Ize-Iyamu’s Endorsement: Your Action Encourages Corruption, PDP Tells Buhari
By Daniel Dafe
The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) has described the endorsement of the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, for the September Edo gubernatorial election by President Muhammadu Buhari as an act that encourages corruption.
Recall that earlier today, Ize-Iyamu received the APC flag from the President Buhari at the Villa, symbolising an endorsement by the president.
In a statement signed by PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP said: “The party condemns the presentation of flag to the APC candidate in the Presidential Villa,” saying that this validates their position that “Buhari’s administration is fighting perceived opponents and not corruption.”

According to the PDP, Mr. President ought to have been aware that Ize-Iyamu is standing trial over allegations of corruption, in addition to declaration by his party’s former national chairman that Ize-Iyamu is a treasury looter, who should not be trusted with the position of the governor of Edo state.
The statement added: “The presentation of flag to a person standing trial on allegation of corruption right in the Villa has shown to the world that APC is indeed the headquarters of corruption.”
