NDDC: UPU Youthwing Ex-President, Anidi Urges Buhari To Swear In Odubu, Okumagba Board

The immediate past president of Urhobo Progress Union, Youthwing, Worldwide, Comrade Louis Anidi, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to swear in the Pius Odubu and Bernard Okumagba-led board that has been screened by the Senate before the issue of Interim Management Committee (IMC) came up, adding that this is the right direction to go.

Anidi, who spoke to journalists in Warri, lamented the corruption scandal that has rocked the NDDC since the public hearing on the Commission’s IMC began recently, saying that this is avoidable and that the right thing to do was for them to be sworn in without delay.

According to him, the can of worms oozing from NDDC management staff and other related agencies is worrisome and unacceptable, as their actions clearly demonstrate their insensitivity to the welfare of the people they are entrusted to serve in the best interest of the Niger Delta region, which is currently in a sorry state.

He added: “I call on the president to do away with the IMC,” as he said that they have constituted themselves as cogs in the wheel of progress.

He said: “The selfish interest of some few individuals is not enough to jeopardise the collective destiny of the Niger Delta people, hence the call to clear the Commission of these fraudulent and unguided people who are on a mission to acquire the commonwealth of the Niger Delta people.”

Furthermore, he charged youths in the area to wake up and lend their voices to the call for the already screened board to be sworn-in.

“The Niger Delta needs urgent development and the way to realize that is through the NDDC board and not the IMC arrangement that has shown to be a means to siphon finances budgeted for the development of the area.

“Okumagba and Odubu are proven technocrats that can bring about a rapid development to the Niger Delta if sworn into office,” he averred.

“I have had personal dealings with the two of them and I can attest that they have what it takes to bring the needed change in the area,” he opined.

Louis called on youths in the Niger Delta to remain calm, but said that it is time to stand to be counted.
