Speaking shortly before the inauguration, the traditional ruler emphasized that the committee was constituted to review and not to draft a new constitution and that the purpose was to reflect the composition of the four traditional administrative units that were calved out of the defunct Ekpan Traditional Administrative Unit.

While he charged members of the committee to be fair, firm and transparent in the discharge of their duties, he explained that the committee was comprised of representatives of stakeholders, just as he instructed the committee to complete its assignment within three months.

Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the Chairman, Professor Abugu on behalf of other members, thanked the Ovie for giving them the opportunity to serve, promising not to disappoint in the assignment.
