Monarch Justifies Call For Police Area Command In Uvwie
By Ambrose Ologide
The Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, HRM Dr Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso (JP) OON, Abe 1, has given reasons on why a Police Area Command Office should be created in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The traditional ruler while speaking during the interactive meeting he had with the Hon Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Chief Fetus Keyamo (SAN) at his palace in Effurun on Tuesday November 3, 2020, noted that the establishment of a Police Area Command in Uvwie would coordinate and supervise the four existing divisional police stations in the area.
He also noted further that Uvwie was host to critical national investments, multinational companies and federal institutions.
The Ovie reasoned that the area was highly urbanized, densely populated and that it was the commercial nerve centre of Delta State as well as the gateway to the East West axis.

“There is no gain saying the fact that Uvwie Kingdom need more policing. In the recent EndSARS protest, the police were almost overwhelmed,” he stated.
Abe 1 also re-echoed his call for the return of the unused lands acquired by the Nigerian Army in his address.
He stressed, saying, “The release of the 436 acres (185.20 hectares) of lands acquired in excess of what was gazetted to Uvwie people unconditionally with immediate effect since the land was not part of the purported acquisition.”
In his response, the Uvwie born minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, thanked the royal father for baring his minds on issues affecting Uvwie Kingdom in an articulated way.
Chief Keyamo promised to look into the issues raised with all seriousness while he was still in office as a minister.
