-Urges Other Niger Delta Ethnic Groups To Follow Suite

Niger Delta Peace Ambassador, Peresine Watchman has thrown his weight behind the peaceful protest carried out by Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), on Monday, December 21, 2020, which was ably led by its National Spokesperson, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe.
He also declared support for the IYC proposed mega protest at the NDDC’s Head Office in Port Harcourt against the appointment of Akpabio’s hand-picked Sole Administrator of NDDC, urging other Niger Delta ethnic groups to unite and join IYC to carry out the proposed peaceful protest at NDDC’s Head Office in Port Harcourt and the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in Abuja until the Federal Government appoints a substantive NDDC Management Board and inaugurate it to implement NDDC’s 2020 budget passed by the Senate last week.
According to Peresine, “I am still wondering why Senator Akpabio cannot focus on his Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs as his predecessors did, but he is putting so much interest in setting confusion in Niger Delta and hijacking NDDC and turning it into personal property as if he was the first person to be appointed as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs and he would be the last person to occupy that position as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.
“I am also pondering on the special arrangements Senator Akpabio made with the Presidency that Mr. President and the Presidency would ignore the calls of stakeholders in the Niger Delta region to appoint substantive NDDC Management Board, and would listen to the wrong advice of Senator Godswill Akpabio, in order to play with the only intervention Commission established by a different administration to develop Niger Delta and its people, with levity.

“Our revered father and leader, Chief E.K. Clarke, Governors of South-South states, traditional rulers, the leadership of the Senate and House of Representatives minority caucus have all spoken and advised whoever that is in charge of the Presidency to appoint a substantive NDDC Management Board, instead of appointing Interim Management Committee, which is unknown to the NDDC establishment Act, yet the cabal undermined our leaders and went ahead to appoint a Sole Administrator with the intention of syphoning the funds meant for the development of the Niger Delta.
“Our great Izon voice, Comrade Joseph Evah also advised Mr. President to correct himself by reversing NDDC to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, as well as the need for the immediate appointment of a substantive NDDC Management Board.
“My respected leader, Comrade Timi Frank also advised the Presidency and the National Assembly to avert the impending danger in Niger Delta by appointing substantive NDDC Management Board, but the President still ignored his piece of advice, and allowed the so-called Sole Administrator to continue running the affairs of NDDC, and he has instituted legal process against the Federal Government and the National Assembly.
“I must not fail to remind my readers that I had earlier advised Mr. President to appoint substantive NDDC Management Board to bring the desired development to the Niger Delta region.”
“With the above analysis, every reasonable man from Niger Delta and other parts of the world who place the development of the Niger Delta region above personal interest must support and encourage the proposed mega protest of Ijaw Youth Council, led by the National Spokesperson and his team and will also encourage other Niger Delta ethnic groups to carry out peaceful protests to occupy the NDDC’s Office in Port Harcourt and the office of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs in Abuja until substantive NDDC Management Board is being put in place, and NDDC should be removed as a Commission under the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and be taken back to the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“I conclude this piece by expressing my heartfelt thanks to the indefatigable IYC National Spokesperson, Comrade Ebilade Ekerefe; National Treasurer, Comrade Ebifoubo O. Timilaemi; Eastern Zonal Chairman, Chief Frank Akiefa; Central Zonal Chairman, Comrade Clever Iniodu; Eastern Zonal Chairman, Comrade Ebi James; Leader IzanzanCamp, Amb. Salaco Arerebo Yerinmene; amongst others on their firm commitment to a greater and better Niger Delta,” he stated.
