Christmas: Oyedepo Distributes 300 Bags Of Rice In Home Town, Omu-Aran

President if Living Faith Church, popularly known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, deepened his charity work this Christmas as he donated 300 bags of rice to his people in Omu-Aran, Kwara State.

This was revealed by a concerned Nigerian, Femi Ogunshola.

Ogunshola is obviously close to Oyedepo and his church as he said the benefactor would ordinarily not want to broadcast such a gesture.

He revealed in a Facebook post:
“Bishop Davd Oyedepo is from Omu-Aran in Kwara State.

“He won’t ever miss celebrating Christmas in his country home.

“Again he is around as usual.

“Omu-Aran has 3 wards
.
“Today, Bishop in his magnanimity dole out 100 bag of Rice to each ward

“He didn’t ask me to announce it, but we must commend good gesture

“God bless you, sir.”

Oyedepo remained controversial in much part of 2020 due to the disruptions caused by coronavirus.

He was opposed to lockdown by the government; or, at least, to the manner it was done with churches that remained locked for months.

His argument was that it was unreasonable to close churches while markets were opened.

According to him, it is easier to maintain COVID restraints in an organised place like the church, than in the market place.

He also spoke stridently against bringing church governance under the purview of government’s rejigged policy of corporate and allied outfits watch, through the amended Companies and Allied Matters Act, 2020.

Beyond such arguments, however, he remained a leading light in ministry work, and one of the leading influential entrepreneurs.

With investment in education, publishing and other areas, Oyedepo and his church is a notable employer.
He is the founder of highly rated Covenant University, Ota, and the Landmark University, planted in Omu-Aran, an indication that he has a special attachment to the home town.

In a sermon about three months ago, the bishop expressed joy that, during the coronavirus disruptions, he never sacked any worker.

Instead, he said, he continued to pay them their salaries.

This is a feat not many organisations or employers could achieve.

He had said in July: “Today we have 7,000 workers who are regularly paid from holy money.”
