Delta: Ukah Assures Of Effective Implementation Of Reviewed Curriculum, Scheme Of Work

Delta State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Patrick Ukah, has affirmed his ministry’s readiness to effectively implement all recommendations on curriculum review and scheme of work development.

Mr Ukah, who gave the assurance yesterday at the closing ceremony of the workshop on curriculum revision and schemes of work development organised by his ministry, disclosed that implementation strategy for the recommendations would be carried out in January, 2021.

The commissioner stated that a lot needed to be done in the development of education in Nigeria, adding that all hands must be on deck to take the education sector to an enviable height.

According to Ukah, the essence of the curriculum review and development of the scheme of work was aimed at enriching their contents for the benefits of students.

He noted that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, was irrevocably committed to giving education the priority attention it deserves, stressing that education was an indispensable tool for the advancement of any society.

Representatives of the various teams include Prof. Peter Dania, Delta State University, Abraka; Prof. Christiana Omoifo of the University of Benin; Prof. Kennedy Odu of Delta State University, Abraka, and Associate Prof. Uche Oboko of Madonna University, Okija, Anambra State.

They commended the state government for the initiative, saying that government should be reviewing the curriculum and scheme of work regularly.

They, however, advocated consistent team work and called on each participant, especially teachers, to improve on their relationship with the learners as well as strive to domesticate what have been learnt in their various schools to add value to the students, even as the stakeholders enjoined teachers to jointly prepare their lesson notes.
